At this critical time for our economy and our environment, it is essential that we keep our eyes on the prize. The environment must not be sacrificed in a short-sighted rush to salvage businesses. Howard's and John's comments make clear that tax incentives, while fun for politicians to give away, cannot solve our long-term problems. Full social costing of environmentally damaging fuels is the only way out, and can provide a stream of revenue for economic stimulus. A carbon tax is the way to go!
