Thanks for running the numbers, Howard. I should have known they would be large, especially given the surge in corp. profits over the last few years. Since I suspect that the burden of the corp. tax is mostly carried by labor, it would be interesting to show working Americans how much the corporate tax is costing them. In any case, I agree that your advocacy of an integrated corporate/personal income tax is the way to go. In addition a consumption-based income tax on the individual side would address the sheltering problem since, if an individual's saving were not taxed until it is "consumed," there would be no need for anyone to find ways to shelter income in the corporate form. The USA Tax introduced by Nunn and Domenici in the 1990s contained the features we both like. It didn't go anywhere, of course.
