An excellent appraisal of the ill conceived "rebate" checks. I still am surprised that foreign investors buy US Treasury notes and other US securities. Why "invest" in an America that spends and consumes so wastefully?
I think this rebate nonsense began as Congress' response to the bursting of the housing/credit bubble. Guess they gave up on that explanation and now just call this giveaway an economic stimulus package.
Encouraging middle class consumption that the middle class can't afford and using borrowed money - how original.
