The Simpsons for Tax Wonks: The NTA Honors Joel Slemrod

By :: November 20th, 2012

Congratulations to University of Michigan tax economist Joel Slemrod for winning the National Tax Association’s Daniel M. Holland Medal for outstanding contributions to the study and practice of public finance. Joel, who is a member of the Tax Policy Center’s advisory board, is a terrific researcher and teacher. He’s been a great help to me for many years.

The real reason for this blog, though, is to encourage you to watch this wonderful short animation about Joel, co-produced by his long-time Michigan colleague Jim Hines and Rutgers economist Rosanne Altshuler (a former director at TPC and also a member of our advisory board). Sort of a Simpsons for tax wonks.

Who knew that international tax economists were such good filmmakers? Or that Joel’s career has been such a hoot?
